We just wanted to wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year
Hope all the Christmas cooking turns out as planned.
We’ll be back soon with something interesting (hopefully)!!
Joan and Marg
I’ve been tinkering this past week or two, between shopping, cleaning and the usual build-up to Christmas.
I had a very happy day making gift tags using blank luggage labels, spent dye and a few stencils. Family and friends be warned!!
I got a bit distracted after this, and started out on some new cushion covers (having decided that the sofa needed to be brightened up a bit before the Christmas decorations went up). I patched some of my favourite colours together then free machined a weed and added a silk bird. I enjoyed myself so much that I now have another one almost finished. It made a lovely break from the Christmas preparations. What do you think?
A birthday gift of a book is always a treasure to be sure and this one is no exception, Slow Stitch, by Claire Wellesley-Smith.
A quote from the fly sheet …….
“Slow Stitch is a much-needed guide to adopting a less-is-more mind-set, valuing quality over quantity and bringing a meaningful and thoughful approach to textile practice. Claire Wellesley-Smith introduces a range of ways in which you can slow your textile work down”………….
I am currenty working on a new project, which for the moment I have entitled “A Walk in the Park” and some of the ideas within this new addition to my library fit in perfectly. It touches on dying with plant material from your local surroundings, which is something I have tried, but not too successfully. However, using hints from this book, I will try again.
In no way am I suggesting you rush out and buy this book, as we all see books quite differently, but I am enjoying it and thought it useful to show this small preview.
Enjoy your weekend,
