About Us

We are two textile artists – Joan Brailsford and Margaret Horton – who love to sew, dye fabric, paint and create textiles.  We work in a variety of textiles, and in mixed media. As two halves of a duo (2inspire) we think that we inspire one another, and complement each other’s styles.

We have both completed City & Guilds qualifications in creative embroidery, and machine embroidery, which whetted our appetites and led to various spin-off courses and day-schools. We have exhibited our work as a duo, as well as individually and as part of other groups.  We try to keep ourselves interested and our work fresh by setting ourselves challenges from time to time. The outcomes of these, along with other work we are creating is displayed in the separate Gallery tabs in each of our names.

Margaret often focusses on surface textile decoration, experimenting in screen printing, disperse dyes, stencilling – in fact any technique which transfers colour and pattern to fabric. Colour is an important element of Joan’s work, along with hand and machine stitching, and the pieces reflect an eclectic taste and rather abstract interpretations.

Please feel free to browse the images we are happy to bring you in our Gallery tabs, in addition to our blog updates – we hope that you will enjoy both!

  1. Hi

I live in Leicestershire. I am currently looking for speakers for our monthly Leicestershire Quilters meetings. We have speakers booked until June 2018. Do you give talks to groups? We are interested in anything textile related and like to have a variety of speakers. It does not have to be “traditional” quilting.

    • Hi Lynda,
I’m really sorry that it has taken me so long to reply to your comment – somehow it got overlooked.
I have given talks before, and we would certainly consider your request to do the same at your group. Can you give me a few more details about where you are and when you you meet. Thanks. Joan
